17. Vibrant Acetate Tortoiseshell Link Chain
Acetate jewelry is incredibly lightweight, bold, and high-shine. By purchasing open-loop acetate links in rich tortoiseshell patterns, you can snap them together to create a gorgeous, custom 1970s-inspired statement chain.
Materials Needed:
- 20–25 Open-slot acetate tortoiseshell chain links (amber, blonde, or emerald swirl)
- Oversized gold-plated spring ring statement clasp
- Two large, thick gold jump rings
Step-by-Step Guide:
- Understand the Links: High-quality acetate jewelry links feature a microscopic, flexible pre-cut slit along one of their narrower sides.
- Assemble the Chain: Align the slit of one acetate link with the solid side of another. Push them against each other with gentle pressure; the link will flex open slightly and snap securely into the center of the next link.
- Build the Length: Continue snapping links together until your chain reaches a bold, chunky collar length (typically around 15–17 inches).
- Attach Hardware: Open your large gold jump rings. Loop one through the acetate link at each end of your chain.
- Finish with a Clasp: Attach your oversized gold statement clasp to one of the jump rings. This clasp can be worn at the back of the neck or pulled to the front as an extra design element.
