15. The Monster House Face

15

Turn your entire home into a living, breathing creature by giving your house a monstrous, terrifying face. This high-impact decorating style uses the architectural features of your porch and roofline to create a giant monster. Use large sheets of lightweight plywood or corrugated plastic to cut out a set of massive, razor-sharp teeth. Paint them white with blood-red tips, and secure them along the archway of your porch or the top of your garage door, making the entrance look like a gaping, hungry maw.

Above the teeth, mount two large, glowing eyes on the second-story windows or the roofline. You can create these eyes using large exercise balls painted with pupils and irises, illuminated from behind with bright spotlights, or by using digital projectors to display moving, blinking monster eyes onto your windows. Add long, green or purple fabric tentacles spilling out of the windows and draping down the front of the house to complete the illusion that your home has been possessed by an ancient, colossal beast from the deep.
